May 20, 2026

When you live in Southwest Florida, the outdoors is basically your gym. Whether you're into paddling, trail running, cycling, or just getting outside with the family, this region delivers.

The Legacy Trail, Sarasota

Sarasota County's Legacy Trail offers 30 miles of smooth, straight, and level recreational access, making it an excellent option for cyclists, joggers, and walkers. Sarasota County even offers pedicab and surrey rides along the trail for a more leisurely way to take it all in. It's the kind of trail that rewards both the serious cyclist putting in miles and the family out for a weekend ride.

Robinson Preserve, Bradenton

For anyone who wants to get moving in the heart of nature, Robinson Preserve is a standout. This 600-plus-acre coastal preserve features a network of walking, biking, and paddling trails winding through mangroves, salt marshes, and tidal creeks, with stunning views of Tampa Bay and Anna Maria Island. The Osprey Loop is a favorite among hikers at 3.3 miles, taking you through mangrove boardwalks and waterfront scenery, while a five-story observation tower offers sweeping views of the surrounding bay. Kayak rentals are available on site for those who want to explore from the water, and admission is free. Plus, it’s less than 20 minutes from our Aqua community.

Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota

Nathan Benderson Park is a 550-acre park in the heart of the Sarasota/Bradenton area built around a 400-acre lake. It offers everything from world-class rowing events to kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, and a 3.5-mile paved trail perfect for walking or jogging. It's a great spot for all fitness levels, and the flat, well-maintained path makes it an easy go-to for a consistent outdoor workout routine. Especially for residents of our Watercolor Place community, who are only about 20 minutes away.

Beach Yoga on the Gulf

Not every workout needs to be a sprint. Beach yoga classes are offered on Siesta Beach, Turtle Beach, Venice Beach, and Nokomis Beach, suitable for all ages and most classes are free with a suggested cash donation. There's something to be said for a yoga class with a sea breeze and a water view.
